Swiss Institute for Medical Cannabis Research
Advancing Cannabinoid Science for Modern Medicine
The Swiss Institute for Medical Cannabis Research (SIMCR) is a nonprofit scientific institute based in Lausanne, Switzerland, dedicated to advancing knowledge related to the endocannabinoid system and cannabinoid medicine.
Why This Matters
Bridging Science and Medical Practice
Over the past decades, scientific understanding of the endocannabinoid system has grown significantly. This biological system plays a critical role in regulating numerous physiological processes, including pain, mood, immune function, and homeostasis.
Despite this growing body of knowledge, the integration of cannabinoid science into medical practice remains limited. SIMCR was created to help bridge this gap through education and clinical research grounded in scientific evidence.
Two Pillars
How We Operate
Education
SIMCR Academy
Providing structured scientific education for physicians and healthcare professionals through the SIMCR Academy - developing CME-certified, physician-reviewed educational programs.
Clinical Research
Patient-Centered Protocols
Conducting clinical investigations focused on cannabinoid therapeutics, particularly full-spectrum cannabinoid extracts, with an emphasis on clinical relevance and patient-centered outcomes.
Our Commitment
Institutional Approach
The institute seeks to contribute to the development of evidence-based knowledge that can support physicians and healthcare professionals.
- Scientific rigor in all research activities
- Transparency in methods and findings
- Collaboration between researchers and clinicians
- Responsible advancement of cannabinoid medicine
- Patient-centered scientific inquiry
